Of course after following my last post it isn't surprising to hear that shortly after Abby got better Megan got sick last week. Once again it was a high fever and this time it was an ear infection. Luckily just a few days later and with the help of some medication she is back to her sweet self. I better knock on wood that we stay healthy for a while.
Last Saturday we had our first snow other than a few flakes about a month ago. We decided to take the girls down to Hershey to drive thru their large outdoor light display called 'Sweet Lights'. They girls enjoyed the lights and every once in a while would express some excitement if something caught their eye.
We had plans to take the girls out and get our tree but with Megan not feeling good we opted just to have daddy go pick out our tree and bring it home. Sunday we put the tree up and let the girls help decorate. They were more excited than I expected they would be which made it all the more fun. I let them start off by hanging some candy canes along with a few ornaments and I finished it up once they lost interest.
After the tree was up I decided it was finally time to get moving on our Christmas card. I had been holding out waiting to get just the right holiday picture and was running out of time. Monday after dinner I decided it was picture time. We got the girls dressed and ready to take some picture. Trying to get two toddlers to both smile at the same time in looking in the same direction is harder than you might think. We called it quits after a short photo session when I finally got too frustrated and tried again the next morning.
We have been enjoying the girls and their excitement with Christmas. They recognize Santa and refer to him as 'Ho Ho', snowmen and reindeers. Last weekend we were flipping thru the tv and came across the movie Polar Express. Surprising to both Kenny and I the girls cuddled with us on the couch and watched it until it was time for bed. It is rare that much holds their attention for much longer than a few minutes, other than Mickey Mouse Club I should say. This week we have taken the opportunity to watch some of the Christmas classics like Frosty, Rudolph and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. It has been fun to share things I remember about the holidays with them.
This period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is quickly becoming my favorite time of the year. It has always been fun but having little ones just makes it all the more special. There is so much to look forward to in the next couple of weeks between Christmas, a visit from Nana and Papa and of course the girls' 2nd birthday.
Our girls are getting to be such big girls. I Iove asking them questions just to hear them talk. I love that they give great big bugs and kisses. Abby's favorite phrase lately is 'hold you' when she wants me to hold her. Megan has such a sweet caring side. Last week Abby had slipped when going up the stairs a little and Megan leaned over and patted her back saying 'its okay'. They are both such great helpers and love to help whenever they can even when it comes to picking up their toys. They are at such a fun age right now I wish they didn't have to grow up!
Time for me to sign off and get working on our Christmas cards!
I can feel Christmas in this post! What a fun time with your girls...makes me look forward to this stage!
